Sessions usually involve incremental weight increases and exercises that target specific muscle groups.

Power Pump

A workout that will burn calories, shape, and tone your whole body and increase your core strength. The use of weights will increase bone density and keep you strong and full of energy.

Les Mills Bodypump

Focussing on strength training, this is one of the fastest ways to shape up and lose body fat. It’s ideal for just about anybody who wants to add strength training to their aerobic workout, build lean muscles and burn fat. Its simplicity makes it a great starting point to develop strength, fitness, and confidence.

Les Mills Grit Strength

A 30-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout, that improves strength and builds lean muscle. This workout uses barbell, weight plate, and body weight exercises to blast all major muscle groups.

How do I know Strength classes are for me?


These classes help improve overall strength as well as provide focussed training per muscle group to help build lean muscle. If you want t get stronger, get ripped or get lean, strength classes are for you. You could very well become the next Jean Claude van Damme, they’ll call you the Muscles from Bredasdorp.

What to expect at a Viva Strength class


Our instructors are high-trained experts in their fields. Our facilities are world-class with well-ventilated and spacious studios and quality equipment. We do our best to keep ensure our classes are small enough for everyone to get individual attention from the instructor.

We also make sure the classes are structured in a way that allows you to join at any time and increase intensity as you improve. The class structure may vary slightly depending on who is leading the class, but generally, it will have the following format:

  • Warm-up
  • A sequence or various movements and lifts
  • A steady increase in set intensity and tempo
  • Interspersed with short rest intervals
  • Cool-down

What equipment will I use?


The classes take place in the gym studio and will usually involve the use of weight plates, kettlebells, barbells, and body weight/resistance.

All Viva Gym club timetables can be found here, currently, most of our clubs host at least one strength class a week and it’s completely free!
