Our reasons for exercising are as varied as we are, but ultimately we all want results. Body conditioning classes are a great way to achieve all-round fitness so you can see results and look and feel healthier. They assist in improving muscle tone and endurance through a combination of aerobic, resistance and strength exercises, allowing you to tick all the boxes in one single workout!

Also, it’s a really effective and super fun way to burn up to 450 calories in one go. Did Susan have a birthday at work today? Did you eat cake? Did you eat a lot of cake? Did you steal Susan’s whole cake and eat it in the broom cupboard? No problem, come join a body conditioning class today! (And maybe speak to someone about that cake-stealing stuff.)

Benefits of body conditioning classes

Body conditioning classes are for you if you want to:

  • Improve muscle tone and overall firmness
  • Improve physical fitness and endurance
  • Improve cardiovascular performance
  • Boost mood
  • Increase your ability to burn calories

Is body conditioning exercises for me?

Like most of the classes offered at Viva Gym, our body conditioning classes allow you the freedom to go at the pace you feel most comfortable.

If you have no real reason to avoid exercise, you should come and join us for one of these classes. You’ll be in full control while having the benefit of other people alongside you to keep your motivation high.

The more classes you join, the better you’ll get, meaning you’ll be able to move around and do the moves with greater skill and exert yourself far more efficiently. So even if you’re a complete noob, you should be just fine, we promise!

What classes can I choose from?

Currently, we offer body conditioning classes at most of our gyms at least once a week… you can’t miss it, it’s called Body Conditioning. There are a number of other classes that use a combination of cardio and strength such as the Bootcamp and Les Mills that might also be of interest to you. If you are looking for something with more of a lean towards the aerobic and cardio side of the scale you can check out Step classes.

What happens in a body conditioning class?

This will depend on your instructor, but you’ll normally start with a warm-up followed by a whole range of potential exercises that may include (to name just a few):

  • Planks
  • Squats
  • Lunges
  • Burpees
  • Dumbbell exercises (rows, shoulder press etc.)
  • Resistance exercises

These classes are highly effective at increasing your body’s calorie-burning abilities even after the end of your workout and will also assist with gradually strengthening your heart and muscles.

What equipment will I need?

You don’t need to bring anything other than lots of water and a sweat towel. Make sure that you are in comfy gym wear with regular gym sneakers, so you don’t have to worry about being inhibited in any way during your workout. You really want all your attention to be on your instructor and with your body as you work to achieve your fitness goals.

There may be the occasional use of equipment, many times this will include the latest gym equipment available on the market, which is rather exciting. So bring yo sweet self and feel the burn!

When do these classes run?
