Who is spinning for?

We are not gonna lie, spinning can be challenging. Not because it will test your technical abilities, but rather because it’s going to ask mental and physical endurance. Getting you to dig a little deeper each time until you reach the end. But as Theodore Roosevelt once said: “Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain and difficulty…” (this is a legit quote, we looked it up on the internet and everything). So basically, it’s worth it!

Providing you don’t have any medical reason to not do cardiovascular exercises, you should be good, even if you are a little unfit. It’s a great way to boost cardiovascular strength without putting too much pressure on your joints.

High-intensity cardiovascular exercise also tends to be a better option for people who are looking to build muscle and don’t want to counteract their efforts by doing too much cardio. It provides a high cardio fat-burning benefit without you having to put in too much time.

However, if you have any doubts about whether or not it’s suitable for you, speak to your doctor before taking it on, just in case.

Health benefits of spinning

  • Increased cardiovascular performance
  • Enhances the release of endorphins
  • Easy on joints
  • Great for toning your bum and quads
  • Core strength
  • Better circulation and overall health

What to expect at Viva Spinning Classes

We have a fully kitted spinning studio that’s always set up. In most Viva Gym branches, this will be a separate room with a great big glass window with movie-theatre lighting to help you focus and endure.

As a member of Viva Gym, you’ll have the option of:

Live Cycle

Intensity level: High

Availability: Not all gyms

Class frequency: 2 to 4 classes daily weekdays, weekend classes vary

You guessed it, this class is lead by an actual, real-life human being. We make sure to hire world-class instructors for our classes and our spinning sessions are no different.

Live Cycle is all about high intensity and simulates races, sprints, and hill-climbing (ouch!). It’s great for burning calories to epic tunes every week. Some of our gym members even join in to prepare for taxing endurance races.

Virtual Cycle

Intensity level: Moderate

Availability: All Gyms

Class frequency: at least 1 class a day

The ultimate in tech innovation, these classes take place in front of a huge screen! These are slightly less intense than our Live Cycle classes, but should not be underestimated. When you join one of the virtual classes you also have the option to choose between a location simulation or virtual instructor to be displayed on the screen.

Spinning equipment

We use only the best equipment in our spinning classes and have ensured we provide the latest in biometric technology.  Our bikes have what is referred to as the “Q-Factor”, which means the distance between your feet when you sit on the bike and the pedal is the optimal 155mm. This makes your indoor cycling experience feels like a real bike and gives you increased safety, comfort and efficiency.

Other features include:

High Inertia Flywheel – for an even, 360-degree technique and better pedal-stroke mechanics.

Ergo-Formed Handlebar – for greater comfort and improved performance.

Oversized Stabilizer Bars – for improved pedaling performance and balance.

Integrated Dual Bottle Holder – quick and easy access to hydration that doesn’t interfere with your stride.

4-Way Bike Fit – ensures a finely-tuned fit for all riders.

When are the classes?

As mentioned, spinning classes happen almost daily at Viva Gym at no extra cost, but to see when exactly you can expect it at your local viva gym check out the timetables page.
