February has come and that means just one thing: the roses are a little redder, the violets are a little bluer… and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Take a deep breath, it’s all going to be okay, luckily for you, there are still two whole weeks to prepare for the this day of showing your love to that special person in your life.

Perhaps the time of giving material gifts of the same old chocolates and roses is over, been done before, old news. Maybe it’s time you showed your loved one how much they really mean to you by having the healthy body you always wanted without going on some crazy hunger strike or following the latest ‘genius diet theory’ that happens to be in the newest book for all to quickly buy at the highest of prices. Here at Viva Gym, we believe in healthy living and in keeping with those values, here are some quick methods to apply over the next two weeks to slim down and look lean for your spouse come the most romantic day of the year.

1. Be active during the day

As easy as it is to fall into lazy-mode coming off a tough January, you need to jump off that couch and start being active with your days, especially leading up to V-Day. Stay as active as you possibly can, do random chores around the house, get into the gym or move around the office, anything to keep you on your feet and it helps keep your metabolism stoked, also preventing you eating out of sheer boredom.

2. Keep away from Fast Food

In our busy lives, having the time to cook all your meals is sometimes just not an option. That does not give you the license to eat fast food whilst you are trying to slim down for Valentines Day. If it’s a meal on the go you have to have, well then grab a chicken salad or stop by one of the more healthy stores that are in most locations these days and get something that is good for you. One fast food meal can set you back as much as a week, literally the last thing you want with V-Day just around the corner!

3. Water for days

One of the most vital steps on your Valentine’s Day health cram, water helps flush the fat from the body and will help prevent you from eating when you’re not really hungry. If you’re not a fan of plain water, you can drink alternatives such as most water-based drinks or try putting fresh fruit in your water to give it a nice but healthy flavour.

4. Cardio, Cardio, Cardio

No need to have fundamental overhauls when it comes to changing your training routines for the days leading up to V-Day, but upping the amount of cardio you do will definitely help you shed some of the unnecessary weight that is so easy to pick up in January. Sweat it out with a couple good treadmill runs or hit a spinning class and you will be well on your way to the perfect Valentine’s Day bod.
