If your first New Year’s resolution was to go on a diet, you might as well tear that up right now. Diets don’t work, short term you may lose the weight that you want to, but it will return quicker and in more bulk than ever before. It is time to throw away the diet mentality and make 2016 the year you take back control of your weight. Eating healthy and in moderation is the key here, but it’s not that easy to all of a sudden adjust so quickly to all this new information, that is why we at Viva Gym have provided some tips on how you can make the transition to easting healthy all the more better.

Step 1 – Do exercise for fun not as a chore

Getting into your fitness routine does not have to be a chore, do not think of the sole purpose of your workout is that you need to lose weight. Find exercises and routines that you enjoy, that’s the only way to get yourself starting to love going to the gym.

Step 2 – Change your mentality towards food

Try not to use the phrases “guilt free” or “clean eating” and so on. That type of talk puts food onto a pedestal and makes it a moral issue. You don’t need to buy into the hype of buying all the latest “superfoods” to make sure you’re healthy, people have been eating regular foods for centuries and still been healthy, it’s just about choosing those regular foods right.

Step 3 – Be patient and it will come

It can be very frustrating in the first couple of weeks of working out that you haven’t had the dramatic weight loss that you thought you would have. Be patient, it will come. If you keep working hard and starting to enjoy the routine you have got yourself into, before you know it you will start to see the difference it is making to your health and your life in general.

As you can see, you don’t need to hugely alter your life to lose weight and be healthy. Small tweaks to your mentality can make all the difference in the world. In the end it’s all about being happy with yourself, being healthy and really enjoying the workouts you’re doing.
